Baruntse Expedition with Mera Peak Climbing – 36 Days
Trip Itinerary
Climb Baruntse, Acclimatize at Mera Peak, and Trek into the Stunning Sherpa Valley of Khumbu
Embark on an unforgettable adventure with our Baruntse Expedition combined with Mera Peak Climbing, a journey that takes you to the heart of the Himalayas. This expedition is designed for climbers seeking to conquer the majestic Mount Baruntse (7,129m/23,389ft) while acclimatizing on Mera Peak (6,476m/21,246ft) and exploring the breathtaking Sherpa Valley of Khumbu.
Why Choose the Baruntse Expedition with Mera Peak Climbing?
Our expedition is meticulously planned to ensure a safe and successful climb. The primary focus is on summiting Mount Baruntse, a stunning peak located between Lhotse and Makalu at the convergence of three glacier valleys: Barun, Imja, and Hunku. To prepare for the technical challenges of Baruntse, we include Mera Peak Climbing as an acclimatization climb. This not only helps you adapt to high altitudes but also offers a rewarding climb with panoramic views of the Himalayas.
Challenges of Climbing Baruntse
Mount Baruntse is known for its technical difficulty, particularly the steep ice sections at 50 degrees and the prominent ice cliff at 7,000 meters. The South-East Ridge, first ascended by Colin Todd and Geoff Harrow in 1954, is a challenging route. However, we opt for the South Ridge, which is more accessible while still offering a thrilling climb.
Why Acclimatize on Mera Peak?
Acclimatization is crucial for high-altitude climbing. Mera Peak, being a non-technical climb, provides the perfect opportunity to adapt to the altitude while enjoying a rewarding summit experience. The climb also offers stunning views of the surrounding peaks, making it a memorable part of the expedition.
